GUNNERY, ENGLISH

Two volumes in one, containing three works, comprising:


i. Smith, Thomas. The art of gunnery. London, 1643, 2 parts in one (part 2 is Smith's Certaine additions... with a supply of fire-works), 3 folding plates/tables, woodcut illustrations, [ESTC R37969]

ii. Bourne, William. The arte of shooting in great ordnance. London, 1643, 2 parts in one (part 2 is Norton's The gunners dialogue), woodcut illustrations, [ESTC R37970]

small 4to (180 x 134mm.), modern calf gilt


These three works on gunnery, here reprinted during the Civil War, had first been published in 1578 (Bourne), 1601 (Smith) and 1628 (Norton).
