4to (255 x 182mm.), woodcut device on title-page, full-page etched armorial on verso of title-page, etched portrait of the author on verso of second leaf, woodcut vignettes, 66 (of 68) full-page etchings, with an additional plate 50 tipped in, plates 63 and 68 with replacement etchings pasted in, later blue boards, lacking half-title and 2 leaves (plates 23 and 25), second leaf repaired obscuring a few letters on recto, a few etchings printed badly, a few margins frayed, occasional light staining
Bresciani, described on the title-page as "maestro d'arme", explains various exercises with pike and sword. The soldier in the plates is dressed in a very fine and elaborate costume.
