Description

STAR WARS (1977), RALPH MCQUARRIE, ADVANCE UNUSED STICKER (DECAL), 1975

This 1975 advance sticker (decal) features concept artwork by Ralph McQuarrie with Han Solo holding a light saber in front of the planet Yavin. The image features the working title of the film, The Star Wars. This sticker is triangular, has its original peel-off backing, and has been framed with a white mount. Ralph McQuarrie was interviewed in 1978 for the official Star Wars Fan Club Newsletter, where he explained 'that the sticker (decal) was designed to go on film cans and letters. George Lucas had had one for American Graffiti and wanted one for Star Wars. It was done while we were working on costumes. This was how we first pictured Han Solo. It could be a sort of Luke character, but I think it's more like Han Solo. George decided that Han Solo should be a more relaxed character, and his costume was changed, but this sticker (decal) was designed prior to the change.'

2¾x 2¼in. (7 x 5.6 cm) (unframed)

7⅜x 6⅞in. (18.2 x 17.5 cm) (framed)
