The Skylab 4 mission began on 16 November 1973, when Commander Gerald Carr, Pilot Edward Gibson, and Pilot William Pogue were launched on a Saturn IB rocket from the Kennedy Space Center. The mission lasted 84 days, one hour and 16 minutes, and a total of 6,051 astronaut-utilization hours were clocked by the crew, who performed a range of scientific experiments.
