LIFTOFF. 16 JULY 1969.
Vintage RCA chromogenic color photograph, 9 3/8 by 6 1/4 inches, “A Kodak Paper” watermark to verso. RCA Astro-Electronics Division photo negative number “69-12-503C” stamped on verso; one or two minor chips to edges.
The massive 363-feet-tall Apollo 11 launch vehicle, being launched from Pad A, Launch Complex 39, at Kennedy Space Center on the morning of 16 July 1969. The Saturn V was the largest production model of the Saturn family of rockets, and was designed under the direction of Wernher von Braun. To this day the Saturn V remains the only launch vehicle to carry humans beyond low Earth orbit.
