A. B. & W. T. Westervelt, located on Chambers Street in New York, advertised themselves as “Manufacturers of iron, brass and copper work. Railings, Grates, Guards, Grilles, Weather Vanes, Crosses, Crestings, Finials, Fountains, Vases, Statuary, Bedsteads, Lightning Rods. Iron, Brass and Nickel Stable Fittings. Fireproof Book Shelving. Each class of goods in a separate Catalogue.” The company featured this “NEW DESIGN BANNERET” in its 122-page 1883 catalog of “weather vanes, bannerets, and finials”, where an eight -foot long version was priced at $180.
