Inventory, 27th June 1836, 'Portrait of General Sandford in Gilt Frame' in the Inside Hall.

According to an old label affixed to the reverse, the sitter was godfather to Elizabeth, Lady Leitrim (d. 1817). He was promoted to the rank of major-general of the 52nd Regiment of Foot in 1761, was removed to the 10th Regiment in 1763, and was advanced to the rank of lieutenant-general in 1770.
