THE BIRDS (1963) ORIGINAL PAINTING, FRENCH

This film was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and is loosely based on the 1952 novelette of the same name by Daphne du Maurier, which was included in her collection 'The Apple Tree'. The film stars Rod Taylor and Tippi Hedren, in her film debut.

In 1980 when Kirk Henderson was commissioned to design the cover of Cinefantastique magazine. Hitchcock's The Birds was already a legendary horror film. Henderson not only included Tippi Hedren and the menacing birds in his artwork, he also included a tonal blue portrait of the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Included in this lot is a copy of the original magazine, which is attached in a clear sleeve on the reverse of the frame (please see photograph of the back of the frame).
