Introduced in the late 1960s, references 6263 and 6265 replaced the reference 6240, and were in production until the late 1980s representing the last iteration of the manual wound ‘Daytona’ series. The models featured two screw down pushers and Rolex's trademarked ‘Oyster’ case design. Both features were designed to increase the waterproof qualities of the watch and with respect to this feature, the dials carried the ‘Oyster’ designation below the Rolex signature.

The model was offered with cases constructed from either stainless steel, 14k and 18k gold, with dial configurations typically showing as black with white subsidiary dials or silvered dials with black subsidiary dials on the stainless steel models. The manual wound movement was also upgraded from a Valjoux 722 to the Valjoux 727.

The present example from 1971 is encased in stainless steel, and features a black dial and stainless steel bracelet.
