Reference 6036, introduced in 1948 and produced until 1955, was the third of the Dato-Compax series of calendar chronograph watches made by Rolex, following the reference 5036. Forever associated with the legendary French Olympic gold medal winning skier, Rolex Ambassador and board member Jean-Claude Killy, the watch housed a Valjoux 72C movement, considered one of the most sophisticated and complex movements ever to be used by Rolex. Available in steel, yellow and rose gold, the reference 6036 was given the ‘Oyster’ case designation due to its screw-down case back and patented 'Twinlock' double seal crown ensuring its water resistance.
This example comes direct from the family of the original owner and is presented in exceptional and unmolested condition, having never been offered for sale previously.
