A LARGE AMMONITE
ZAKARA, MADAGASCAR
Ammonite Cranosphinctes, (Approx. diameter: 48 cm), Oxfordian, late Jurassic (approx. 161-145 million years ago). A superb specimen witt red and green iridescence, presented on a custom stand.
This purely natural form is reminiscent of a spiral staircase, and is a recurring figure in the history of art.
