8vo (4 5/8 x 7 in.; 120 x 180 mm). Half-title, decorative tailpieces; minor foxing. Original green cloth bound by Westleys & Co., covers ruled in gilt and blind, upper cover with gilt central ornament, brown coated endpapers; slight wear at head and foot of spine, cloth bubbled in one or two places, corners bumped.

Contains new poems by Christina and Dante Gabriel Rossetti appearing for the first time in print in this Emily Faithfull publication ("A Royal Princess," by Christian, and "Sudden Light," by Dante Gabriel), as well as other original verse by noted poets, to include George MacDonald, William Bell Scott, William Allingham and others. Emily Faithfull's Victoria Press was the first publishing house to be founded by a woman, and she closely allied herself with the poetry of the day, particularly that of the Pre-Raphaelites'.
