First edition, first issue.  A good copy of a Victorian rarity

The present volume is the first issue, with the Pickering imprint on the title-page. Tamerton Church-Tower was reissued in 1854 with a new-title page bearing the imprint of John W. Parker and Son (see A Catalogue of a Portion of the Library of Edmund Gosse, p. 123). In 1844, following on the heels of the success of this collection of verse, Patmore published The Angel in the House, which established his legacy as a poet.

Our records show only one other copy of this edition having been offered at auction.
