BAL 7604. A.C. Richards (ownership signature to advertisements) — The Snow-Image, and Other Twice–Told Tales. Boston: Ticknor, Reed and Fields, 1852 [1851]. 8vo (4 1/2 x 7 in.; 112 x 180 mm). Publisher's advertisements bound in at front; minor offsetting and foxing. Original full brown cloth, covers ruled and elaborately stamped in blind, spine gilt lettered, yellow endpapers; minor staining to covers, minor nick to head of spine. In custom red and brown linen covered clamshell case. First edition, one of 2,425 copies printed on 11 December 1851. BAL 7607; Clark A19.1.a. Each in custom red and brown linen covered clamshell cases. First American edition, published a week after the London edition titled Transformation. M.S.
