Folio (13 7/8 x 9 1/8 in.; 352 x 232 mm). Roman types, text in two columns, engraved title-page by William Marshall, New Testament title within a double border of printer's ornaments, woodcut initials and initial-frames; title a trifle dampstained, slight worming at inner margin A1–H6 occasionally touching a shoulder-note, M1 remargined, some other marginal repair especially at end, scattered soiling. Nineteenth-century blind-ruled calf, marbled endpapers, red edges; very rubbed, front cover detached.


This Cambridge edition, containing the first major revisions of the King James version, standardizing the use of italics, and altering several readings in the New Testament. Herbert notes that "[t]his remained the standard text until the publication of Dr. Paris' Cambridge edition of 1762."
