WHITMAN, WALT
Two Rivulets, including Democratic Vistas, Centennial Songs, and Passage to India. Camden, N.J.: (for the author), 1876
8vo (7 3/4 x 4 5/8 in.; 197 x 118 mm). Mounted frontispiece photograph of Whitman by G. F. E. Pearsall, 4 section-titles. Half cream leatherspine blindstamped and with morocco lettering-piece, marbled boards, yellow endpapers; some wear, rubbing and soiling.
First and only edition. Author's Edition of 1876. Along with the Author's Edition of Leaves of Grass, Whitman had between 600 and 650 copies of this work printed for the American centenniel. He sold them from his home in Camden and signed the photographic frontispiece as he sold them. At his death, the unsold (and unsigned) copies that remained passed to his three literary executors, who sold and gave them away.
