8vo. Inscribed by London on the half-title, pictorial title-page printed in black and blue, illustrated with plates by Philip R. Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull, publisher's advertisement at end; minor and infrequent foxing. Original green cloth pictorially printed in red, white, and black, and spine gilt-lettered, top edge gilt, pictorially endpapers; minor rubbing to extremities, lacking jacket. In custom clamshell case.  


First edition, presentation copy, inscribed: "To Elinor Glyn:— My most popular, but my own heart goes out to some of my sociological screeds. Jack London Mar. 1, 1911."

Glyn was a British author of popular romance novels, which were written to support her family. She later penned screenplays, and directed the film Knowing Men (1930), an adaptation of one of her novels.
