Saul Steinberg was a cartoonist and illustrator best known for his work for The New Yorker. The present work is an original drawing for an advertisement Steinberg did for Simplicity Patterns in 1955. It would later be published in both Time magazine and The New York Times MagazineAdvertisement for Simplicity Patterns is made with Steinberg's signature rubber stamp element, something which would appear extensively in his oeuvre.
