A MARBLE GRAVE STELE INSCRIBED FOR GAIUS IULIUS OF BYZANTIUM, ASIA MINOR/EASTERN AEGEAN, 1ST CENTURY A.D.


of rectangular form, carved within a recessed area with a seated veiled figure of a woman and a standing draped figure of a man, a tripod table laden with cakes to his left, a diminutive servant figure next to each figure, two lines of Greek inscription above reading ΓΑΙΟΣ ΙΟΥΛΙΟΣ / ΒΥΖΑΝΤΕΙΝΟΣ ("Gaius Iulius, of Byzantium"); no restorations.
