Property from the Estate of Jan Mitchell
AN ETRUSCAN GOLD HAIR-RING, CIRCA 700-600 B.C.
of spiral tubular form, the remaining terminal in the form of a stylized lion’s head with beaded filigree detail and ornament on the neck, a similarly decorated collar on the opposite side, part of the hoop ornamented with very fine filigree wire(?) braiding.
Diameter 2.8 cm.
Jan Mitchell (1913-2009), New York, probably acquired in the 1960s or earlier
by descent to the present owner
