A ROMAN BRONZE FIGURE OF A WOLF, CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D.
standing alertly with gaping jaws, extended tongue, and ears turned up, the front and hind legs resting on separate bases, the coat incised.
Height from modern base 6.8 cm.; length 12.5 cm.
said to have been found near Smyrna in 1963
probably Leo Mildenberg (1913-2001), Zurich
Leo Biaggi de Blasys (1906-1979), acquired in the 1950s/1960s, probably from the above
by descent to the present owner
