Hans-Peter Riese, Jan Kubíček, Kant, 2014, p. 106, catalogued & illustrated

Jan Kubíček ranks among the most significant artists of Czech Constructivism. In the 1960s Kubíček became affiliated with the Križovatka (Crossroads) art movement in Prague, which, in opposition to Socialist Realism, oriented itself toward geometrical and abstract avant-garde. Having experimented with prints, drawings and design, Kubíček's visual language reached its maturity in the 1980s and 1990s. Geometrical elements such as circles and squares perfectly showcase the clear framework of his creative process, which, in turn, reflects a deep, precise structure of thought.
