Description

A concert poster advertising a concert by The Manish Boys, with David Bowie on saxophone and vocals.

  • The concert was due to take place at the Coleford British Legion Hall and Club on the 13th March 1965 but the show was cancelled.
  • The Manish Boys were the second group that David Bowie, then going by his real name David Jones, recorded with.
  • This work is presented unframed.


An excerpt from The Bowie Bible regarding the event reads as follows:

“Their show the previous evening in Coleford, Somerset, had been cancelled without the band’s knowledge. Despite attempts to sleep at the venue, they hit the road again but ran out of diesel, forcing them to sleep in the van in the cold until the morning.”

The poster has previously been folded leaving horizontal and vertical crease marks.

There are several horizontal and vertical splits along the fold lines, the largest of which measures 7 inches / 18 cm.

Some wear and tear to the corners and edges.

Minor signs of age and handling.
