Description

Charles Umlauf (American, 1911-1994).

Employed from 1934 through 1941 by the WPA Federal Art Project, Umlauf's sculptures are heavily influenced by the Art Deco movement.

Sculpted during the same period as his creation of the bronze torch bearers installed at the University of Texas in 1963.
