Catalogue Note
I am a Black, indigenous woman artist. The headdress that adorns me pays homage and honor to my legacy: Cherokee, Powhatan, Shinnecock, and Creole.
For over twenty years, I have been a career artist. I began as a body painter, and every year, I explore new mediums. Forty-one mediums later, and my art remains fluid and cathartic for me and those who engage. My artistic style is dedicated to a mutual exchange with those select individuals who own my work. Every painting has a person. Every sculpture represents someone's soul. Each story I have is a result of never doing the same thing twice. I create one-of-a-kind original artwork for one-of-a-kind individuals.
A thriving community holds art and humanity in high esteem. In 2015, I brought my art to the Burning Man Festival for the first time. The transformative experience sparked an exploration of incorporating nature and technology into my work. After returning consecutive years, I have served as Art Director for theme camps at Black Rock City and showed with the likes of Allyson and Alex Gray.
I am recognized as the first woman of color to burn an effigy on the National Mall. My sculpture A Well Rooted Woman nurtured the assets, divine femininity, and reverence of women as complete vessels. I used birch, cedar, lavender, eucalyptus, sage, cinnamon, clove, and orange peels to design this vessel, which burned, sparking community cleansing on the grounds of the National Mall.
For a large portion of my career, I produced 50 to 150 pieces per week. I am a mass producer of original artwork, each with its own story. With over 13,000 pieces sold, I witness the stories of every original mind that finds me. My artwork is both a portal and a mirror revealing that wealth is within the soul of an individual.
I am an artist without bounds. Agartha is Illuminate...As Above So Below is the title of this piece. Open the cage of your soul so that you can illuminate.
