Description
The story of Patek Philippe’s patented annual calendar starts with the reference 5035 in 1996. Designed to appeal to a new generation of watch lovers, the mechanism offered a more accessible, innovative and user-friendly complication as opposed to the sophisticated Grand Complication perpetual calendar. Being an instant hit, the watch was welcomed by many at its launch due to its versatility. Fast forward to 2005, where the present reference 5146 is the successor of the 5035 with some significant upgrades. The case diameter was increased to 39 mm, which wears beautifully on the wrist. With the addition of moon phases and power reserve indication, the signature is located above the date window at 6 o’clock, modernizing the design with pure elegance. Includes Patek Philippe box.
Condition Report
The watch is in overall very good condition with minor wear throughout commensurate with age. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
