As one of the most iconic sneakers of the twenty-first century, the Nike Air Yeezy 2 still captivates sneakerheads across the globe even almost a decade after their initial release in 2012. From the regional specific colorway releases, with the ‘Platinum’ colorway releasing on the West Coast and the ‘Black’ colorway releasing on the East Coast to Kanye wearing them a month before release - the hype for the Air Yeezy 2 was palpable. 

The design of the Air Yeezy 2 differed from the original Air Yeezy with its more animalistic form, with its most striking element being the ridged reptile-inspired heel counter. It was also slimmed down for greater mobility with the removal of unnecessary padding on the tongue and a thinner sole.

The Air Yeezy 2 ‘Solar Red’ features a black upper with an anaconda textured side panel overlay. Kanye uses a molded rubber at the heel and a glow-in-the-dark outer sole to accentuate the sleek design. Lastly, the ‘Solar Red’ uses infrared pink fabric on the inside of the shoe, and Kanye personalizes the shoe with the Egyptology owl logo. This pair was additionally signed by Kanye West.
