Enigma I

A fully operational three-rotor Enigma I cipher machine, in extremely rare green Panzerholz case. Manufactured in Munich by Ertel-Werk für Feinmechanik, ca. 1941.


Three-rotor Enigma I cipher machine, serial number A00673/bac/43E, complete with reflector and three aluminum/Bakelite rotors (I, II, and III) all with matching serial numbers (A00673), each rotor with 26 positions labeled with numbers, housed in the original green metal Panzerholz case (14 x 10 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches).


Case with removable metal lid, revealing control panel and standard raised "QWERTZ" keyboard of 26 metal and glass keys with white on black backgrounds, light panel with letters A-Z and hinged cover lifting to reveal 26 light bulbs, reflector, rotor, and battery compartments, Bakelite Steckerbrett (plug-board) with seven patch-cables, inside lid with original printed instructions ("Zur Beachtung!"), and spring-loaded spare bulb compartment with 10 additional original light bulbs. Original rotor cover and removable green metal Steckerbrett security plate present, replica green contrast screen included to complete original appearance of machine.
