Melanie Grant is the curator of Sotheby’s Brilliant & Black: A Jewelry Renaissance, and she has become a leading voice in the high jewelry movement. With the release of Coveted: Art and Innovation in High Jewelry, she has written a groundbreaking work on the evolution of jewelry from adornment to serious art form.

A writer, stylist and art director who currently works at The Economist, Melanie spent three years compiling her book, covering over 75 profiles of prominent contemporary designers. In Coveted, she focuses on standout pieces, discussing their conceptual and economic importance, the artists’ use of innovative materials and technique and their connection to the wider cultural landscape.
