Details
Description
Cartier wanted to establish the company internationally, not only to make the Cartier name famous among the crowned heads of Europe, and was named "King of Jewellers, Jeweller of Kings." In 1904, Cartier launched their first Santos wristwatch, followed by other iconic wristwatches over the years.
The Tonneau, in fact, was Cartier's second watch design.
Originally introduced in 1906, two years after the Santos Dumont, the Tonneau remains one of Cartier's most enduring yet understated creations. This piece includes the original Cartier box and papers.
