Description
Cartier wanted to establish the company internationally, not only to make the Cartier name famous among the crowned heads of Europe, and was named "King of Jewellers, Jeweller of Kings." In 1904, Cartier launched their first Santos wristwatch, followed by other iconic wristwatches over the years.
In 1917, Louis Cartier designed the Tank watch, giving rise to an enduring icon. The initial prototype was gifted to General Pershing before the watch officially debuted in 1919. With its sleek and refined lines, the Tank watch quickly resonated with a sophisticated, independent clientele. Over the years, this legendary timepiece has inspired numerous variations while remaining true to its unmistakable identity.
This particular example features a white gold 'scales' bracelet with hidden deployant clasp. Includes Cartier box.
