Description

German Art Nouveau Rococo 800 silver two-light candelabras.

  • Sold as a set of 4.
  • Made by M. H. Wilkens & Söhne in Germany and retailed by Budapest's retailer, Antal Bachruch.
  • Tapering pillar on raised foot with spread c-scroll supports.
  • Garland-entwined figure mounted to pillar top.
  • Two units have a bosomy and drapery-clad caryatid; on other two, a naked atlantes.
  • Each figure holds a stem with two open and scrolled branches terminating in single socket.
  • One pair has interlaced script monogram engraved on foot.
  • Fully marked including maker’s stamp.
  • The monogrammed pair is numbered 100703 (atlantes) and 100704 (caryatid).
  • The pair unmonogrammed is numbered 97406 (atlantes) and 97407 (caryatid) and including retailer’s stamp.
