Description

  • George Nakashima
  • Trestle Dining Table
  • walnut, East Indian rosewood

Provenance

Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner, 1968

Condition

Overall very good condition. The table presents with minor nicks and bumps and scattered light scratches and abrasions, consistent with age and gentle use. The table top as been recently oiled and the rich tones of the walnut, with the complimentary rosewood butterfly keys, present very well. There is a very small dent in the top (approx. 1/8 x 1/4 in.) near the center of the table. The trestle underside, with small peg joints in contrasting woods demonstrate a true thoughtfulness of form and function.
