Catalogue Note

It is rare to find a vase of this large size with such brilliant moulded and enamelled decoration. However, a set of six closely related vases in the Royal Collection, acquired by King George IV before 1824, all later mounted in ormolu, also attributed to the late Qianlong to Jiaqing period, is preserved at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, no. RCIN 2354, and illustrated by John Ayers, Chinese and Japanese Works of Art in the Collection of Her Majesty The Queen, London, 2016, vol. 2, pls 1319-1324.
