During China’s reform and opening ups, the collector of this collection, Mr. Dominic Ho based in China to seek business opportunities. During his stay, he befriended many notable Chinese painters, and he acquired most of his collections from the artists directly. Mr. Ho highly admires Wu Guanzhong’s artistic oeuvre. In the 1980s, he invited the artist to a dinner at an exquisite French restaurant in Beijing. Afterwards, Wu Guanzhong dedicated the following work, “Mountains by the Shore” to Mr. and Mrs. Ho as a token of appreciation.
