Description

  • 6.2 and 9 cm, 2 1/2  and 3 1/2  in.
each of rectangular form, the larger slide carved neatly and densely in low relief with raised bosses, the smaller carved to the top with two raised fillets, the underside with a rectangular loop

Provenance

An important Asian collection, acquired in the 1980s or earlier.

Condition

The smaller: Minute nibbles to the extremities including a tiny nick to one corner of the underside, approx. 0.2 x 0.1 cm. The larger: A shallow impact point to the edge of the curling end. Minute nicks to the edges. Signs of calcification as illustrated. Traces of residues to the underside. Each with typical natural inclusions and flaws in stone.
