Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges, including stretcher bar impressions which run most prominently along the left, top, and right edge, with some areas of associated cracking, particularly on the left edge. Further close inspection reveals a few stable, isolated areas of cracking to the pigment, most notably in the areas of blue paint, 8 inches from the left edge and 49 inches from the bottom edge. There are a few scattered scuffs and minute losses to the pigment visible throughout the composition, most notably in the angel's wing, where a 1/3 inch length vertical pigment loss is visible 27 inches from the right edge and 21 inches from the top edge. There are a few scattered pinpoint brown and white spot accretions visible throughout, as well as a very small piece of textile fiber which has adhered to the surface 9 inches from the right edge and 22 inches from the bottom edge. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, some of the aforementioned spot accretions and losses fluoresce brightly but do not appear to be a result of restoration. Framed.
