Catalogue Note

Another version of this composition by Teniers is in the Ermitage, St. Petersburg (oil on copper, 36,4 x 47,3 cm; inv. no. ГЭ-564).

We kindly thank Dr. Fred G. Meijer for pointing out that the present version is a variant which, in his opinion, probably originated from Teniers' studio and which he may well have worked on himself.
