The actual painting is a little bit darker than the catalogue illustration would suggest. The canvas has been relined and there is an horizontal seam running in the middle, it consists in two pieces of canvas, the seam is retouched. Some paint losses are visible in the column upper right, also around the edges possibly due to the framing. An old repaired tear can be visible between Mary and Catherine. An old damage upper center is visible. The painted surface is in a reasonably good condition. We notice thinness throughout, come of the impastos have been well preserved especially in the clothing of the figures. Various discolored retouchings are scattered throughout. The painted surface is covered with a dirty and discolored varnish layer. Under the UV light Some part of the varnish layer fluoresces showing a lot of retouchings scattered throughout. Offered with a carved and giltwood frame.
