  • 16.6 cm, 6 1/2  in.
of quatrefoil form, the cover carved with a scholar and his acolyte beneath a lofty pine tree next to a pavilion, a further scholar seated by a desk in the pavilion, all against a diapered ground and incised undulating lines figuring the sky, the lobed tiers separated into five panels, each enclosing a different flower all supported on a splayed foot bordered by a key-fret band, the interior and base lacquered black

Condition

This box and cover are in generally good condition, with the exception of some discolouraton throughout, some touch-ups in various areas including the top of the cover, interiors and base. There are also some general wear to the surface, nicks to the extremities and shallow cracks throughout.
