Condition
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is stable with some surface accretions and some scuffs and scratches resulting in a handful of tiny losses visible at the centre left of the lower margin, and in the centre left of the background, and a small pin-prick hole in the shadow of the sitter’s armpit. The varnish is somewhat discoloured and uneven. Otherwise there are no significant visible damages. The varnish fluoresces opaque under ultraviolet light making any early intervention difficult to read. There appears overall to be very little intervention - the picture is in good condition. Offered in a gilt and carved wood frame in good condition with only a few chips and losses.
