Condition
This painting has an old stiff re-lining. The picture has probably not been restored in many decades. There is a crack in the canvas which extends from the middle of the face to the right edge. UV light reveals scattered retouching in a few areas of the drapery and notably a concentrated area along the crack through the right background. There are some small losses down to the canvas on the lower right corner, As well as a raised old puncture to the eighth of the violin. With a new Lining and restoration this picture would be much improved. In a carved gilt wood frame.
