Condition

The canvases are original. The work consists of two canvases, which are hung in a diamond orientation. There are faint stretcher bar marks in places, towards the edges of the canvases, with some very faint lines of associated craquelure in places. There is minor wear to the extreme corners and at the edges in a small number of places. There are a small number of faint scuffs, largely to the right hand canvas, including to the upper third and to the right corner. There are three or four areas of paint which appear to be historic retouchings in the right hand canvas, in the upper right quadrant. There are some very fine lines of craquelure to the left hand canvas, largely confined to the green and black pigment with a few scattered more minor instances to the upper third, only visible upon close inspection. There appear to be two small pushes to the same canvas in the lower half, one with a very faint associated hairline crack, only visible upon close inspection. There appears to be a tiny spot of loss to the upper corner. There are one or two very faint scuffs in the same corner. There is some light surface dirt and detritus. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. The works are unframed. Please contact the department for an ultra violet light inspection report. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
