Condition

The sheet has been fully laid down onto a backing board. The upper edge has been neatly cut and the right edge has been slightly unevenly cut or torn. There appears to be a possible old repaired tear to the centre of the left hand edge, with a further, smaller associated crease. There is a tiny fleck of loss to the white pigment in the upper part of the cross. There are a small number of faint scattered light scuffs to the work, largely only visible in the outer brown pigment. There are a few small accretions within the paint and to the paint surface. There are a few spots of studio detritus and surface matter, and light surface dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in good overall condition. The work is held behind glass in a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
