Condition

This work is in good overall condition as viewed. There is some extremely faint craquelure at areas of thick impasto, but this is consistent with the age of the work and only visibly under close inspection and bright light. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals areas of restoration primarily at the background at the bottom quadrants and a few spots at upper right quadrant and at some areas of the foliage. Framed.

Catalogue Note

“Many of his works are strongly evocative of a peaceful, beautiful and poetic world. The atmosphere he was able to create is not unlike that which exists in a Chinese painting – harmonious with a dream-like quality, and totally undisturbed in its tranquillity… doves in pairs symbolise a good match, which  may be further extended to mean ‘peaceful coexistence’.”  – Excerpt from “III: All About The Man”, Lee Man Fong: Oil Paintings Volume I, Art Retreat Ltd., Singapore, 2005, p. 76
