Condition

Large work: There is a tiny tear along the right edge below center and minor creasing on the upper left corner, both visible only upon very close inspection. Double sided study: Scattered spots of foxing in the work. The colors are lighter in reality than the catalogue illustration. Both works are in good condition as viewed.

Catalogue Note

Atul Bose was a portrait painter from Bengal. Bose studied at the Jubilee Academy in Calcutta followed by the Royal Academy in London. He became Principal of the Calcutta Art School in 1945. Bose's lasting achievement is known to be his involvement with the (Indian) Academy of Fine Arts in Calcutta.
