Of fringe design, suspending drop-shaped boulder opals from a tiered necklace of decorative rope texture gold wirework, accented with alternating round orange and purple garnets, further highlighted by demantoid garnets, length 15 inches; early 20th century.

In very good condition given the age of this piece. Mounting tests as 14 karat gold. The boulder opal drops measuring from approximately 8.2 x 8.2 x 11.2 mm to 6.1 x 6.1 x 8.5 mm, composed of iridescent opal with areas of visible matrix. Orange garnets are medium yellowish-orange; the purple garnets are medium purple; the demantoid garnets are vivid slightly yellowish green. The gemstones are loupe-clean to slightly included. Gross weight approximately 52 dwts.
