Condition

It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The canvas is lined and slightly undulating, notably at the upper left corner. There is an uneven and milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal areas and dots of retouching (the largest of which is approx. 25 cm wide) associated with faint fluorescence visible under UV light, to the upper left quadrant and towards the centre of the left edge. There are a few further small dots and lines of retouching associated with a horizontal surface scratch (approx. 10 cm long) towards the centre of the upper part of the composition. There are some tiny pigments losses in places and a few hairline lines of craquelure to the most thickly applied pigment.
