Catalogue Note

The Patek Philippe Reference 5970 and 5971 Perhaps the most famous line of watches in Patek Philippe’s repertoire is their Perpetual Calendar Chronographs. It can be safely said that they represent some of the most desired watches today. The 5970, the reference to which three of the following four lots belong, was released in 2004 and remained in production until 2010. The final lot, the bejeweled 5971 was released in 2007 and discontinued the same year as its subtler cousin.

It was, in many ways, the first attempt by the brand to contemporize the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph while preserving all of the aesthetic traits so greatly admired in the reference that preceded it. Increasing the case size by 2 mm gave the watch greater dominance on the wrist than the 3970 for example, while the dial is clearly and directly inspired by the vintage reference 2499. It was the last reference to house the Lemania based caliber used since the introduction of the 3970, and once discontinued was replaced with Patek’s first in-house perpetual chronograph movement. The dials were coloured depending on the metal used to forge the case and the lots beneath represent three superb examples in platinum, yellow and white gold and their associated dial variations.

「Perpetual Calendar Chronographs」

Offered in almost like new condition and complete with all original accessories including Certificate of Origin, additional case back and setting pin, the present watch is a true classic that demonstrates Patek Philippe's innovative outlook and commitment to tradition.
