Condition
The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. The minute repeating chimes with a clear tone and clarity. The watch is in excellent overall condition and does not seem to have been used at all. The buckle with minor signs of wear only visible with a strong loupe. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note
A unique piece constructed by a Geneva based english watchmaker, Peter Speake-Marin displays true excellence through the unique design of his dials to complement the movement in his watches. The present watch is in like new condition and it is a magnificent timepiece from the Speake-Marin's Renaissance collection. The watch features a tourbillon with a minute repeating complication which is showcased beautifully by its skeletonised dial. Furthermore, the watch speaks quality. As each tiny movement is hand-polished, the numerals on the chapter ring is finished with black lacquer and all hands are carefully tinted to an uniform blue colour.
More importantly a unique engraved Venus can be viewed from the back of the case and hand engraved into the movement bridges by Swiss engrave Eddy Jaquet.
The watch is furthermore retained in like new condition.
